Striker Asamoah Gyan does not only hold the record as Ghana's joint top scorer at the Africa Cup of Nations but also proudly stands at the Black Stars player with the most tournament appearances.
Despite having hit eight goals in six competitions, the 31-year-old makes a startling revelation of having played below full strength in all but one tournament.
“The AFCON in 2010 was by far my best; that was the only Afcon tournament I played without injury,” Gyan told Citi FM.
“I have played all the other AFCON tournaments through injury.
"My form before that tournament [2010] also really helped.
"I came into the tournament full of confidence.”
After missing the 2006 tournament due to injury, Gyan made his AFCON debut in 2008, scoring once as Ghana finished third on home soil.
He then went on to net three times in 2010, before playing in the 2012, 2013, 2015 and 2017 editions.
