Striker Asamoah Gyan has vowed to play for Asante Kotoko before retiring from football.
The Ghana captain is currently one-goal shy of equaling Abedi Pele’s record of the all time leading top scorer for the Black Stars with 32 goals.
Gyan has spent close to a decade with his professional career abroad where he has featured for Udinese, Stade Rennes and Sunderland.
Now in the UAE with Al Ain, the 27-year-old wants to emulate his elder brother Baffour, who also played for the Porcupine Warriors after his adventure abroad.
“I will definitely return one day to the Ghana Premier League where I will play for no other club than Asante Kotoko,” Gyan told Kumasi-Based Angel FM.
"I have and always been a big fan of Kotoko and always willing the club to win games and trophies.
"So I want to make it clear to everyone that Asamoah Gyan will play for Kotoko upon his return to the Ghana Premier League, no two ways about that,” he said.
Gyan featured for Liberty Professionals as a teenager before leaving the shores of Ghana to begin his professional career with Udinese.
