Gyan promises a fight in Malawi return

Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan is bracing himself for a tough return leg against Malawi in October when the Black Stars travel for the final game in the qualifying for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Black Stars hold an important first leg win after beating the Flames 2-0 last Saturday in Accra with goals coming from Christian Atsu and Anthony Annan.

Gyan, who captained Ghana in the first leg win, firmly believes the pressure is now on Malawi to turn the tie around in Blantyre.

“It is also important to realize that we have won by what should be a good result even if we could not score as many as we wanted,” Gyan said.

“They [Malawi] now have an arduous task to beat us by three goals and prevent us from scoring but I know we have top players to punish them.”

The Black Stars lead the Nations Cup qualifying tie but Gyan is well aware of the threat posed by the Flames especially when they will be at home in the return leg.

However the Ghana striker is reposing enough faith in the abilities of his colleagues to see the Black Stars through.

“I know we have quality players playing regularly at their clubs. I can assure Ghanaians that we will go there to qualify,” he said.

The aggregate winner advances to the finals of next year's Nations Cup in South Africa.
