Newly Promoted premier league side Mysterious Ebusua Dwarfs look set to lock horns with Black stars captain Asamoah Gyan’s club side Shanghai SIPG in Cape Coast as part of a deal between the Chinese government and their Ghanaian counterparts to commemorate the opening of the newly built Cape Coast stadium on 31st December, 2016.
Speaking to ATL FM’s Asante Forkuo, the regional director of the National Sports Authority Mr. Abeidu Wilson confirmed there are ongoing talks to seal the deal and all details will be ironed out soon.
“The Chinese government brought a proposal to the director of sports at the ministry. A deal to play the male national team was mooted but the Chinese thought they didn’t have a strong male side. Another option was the female national side but the female Chinese side looks too strong for the Ghana side.”
“So it was agreed that clubs Ebusua Dwarfs and Shanghai FC should play. Dwarfs being a Cape Coast team and Shanghai FC being a strong team in China where Asamoah Gyan plies his trade. Talks are still ongoing, they haven’t officially accepted to play but hopefully by December ending, the competing teams will be confirmed.”
The stadium will be handed over on 31st January, 2016 and will be graced by the president of the republic of Ghana and many Chinese delegates.
