Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has been hit with another injury which could keep him out of action for at least two weeks, Goal understands.
The 30-year-old suffered the hamstring sprain during his side Al Ahli 2-0 defeat to Al Jazira in the Arabian Gulf League on Saturday and was replaced with Waleed Hussain on 17th minute.
Gyan admitted his frustrations after the game but promised to comeback strongly to help his side in the title race.
"It is very difficult for me and the club but I think I will overcome this injury very soon. I had to signal my coach very early in the game for me to be replaced and it affected our game plan in a way," Gyan told Goal.
"I will see the doctors for further checks and I pray the results will not be bad. We're now five points behind Al Wasl after the defeat but I have to be fit in time to help my club in the title chase," he added.
Gyan, who has just played two games for Ghana this year, also praised the national team players despite losing 2-0 to Egypt in the Fifa World Cup qualifiers in his absence.
"This was a game I wanted to play a part in but I had to excuse myself because of an injury I picked at training. I called the coach [Avram Grant] to excuse myself and he understood it although it was a big blow to him.
"The players did well and must be commended despite losing. This is the best game from the Black Stars in recent times and I know things will change in the group."
Ghana are now third in Group E with one point, five points behind Egypt and will host Congo next in August 2017.
