Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan has asked fans of his former club Al Ain to back the UAE champions following their difficult this season.
The giants have struggled since the Ghana captain quit the Al Ain-based club for Chinese side Shanghai SIPG in a bumper transfer deal.
Al Ain supporters have been protesting against the club after their arch rival Al Ahli opened up a four-point lead at the top of the table after 19 matches.
Gyan has rallied the supporters by saying they should back the team to ensure that they take over the leadership of the table.
“Its time for Al Ain fans to give their 100% support to the team n management in these trying times to get back to winning ways,” the former Al Ain striker wrote on Twitter.
Gyan is regarded as a legend by supporters of Al Ain after steering them to three league titles and winning the goal king award in the country twice.
