The agent of South Africa-based midfielder Edwin Gyimah says he is not aware of any interest from South Africa giants Orlando Pirates in the Ghanaian after his impressive outing in the country’s top-flight last season.
Reports in the South African media indicates that Orlando Pirates are looking at adding SuperSport United midfielder-cum-defender Gyimah in their books.
Gyimah’s agent, Mike Makaab of ProSport International, however, told the Siya crew that there has been no formal approach from Pirates for the Ghana midfielder.
“I have heard about the rumour linking Edwin to Orlando Pirates, but I can confirm that I’ve not had any talks with the club with regards to him joining them,” Makaab told the Siya crew.
“In any case, Edwin has a long term-contract with SuperSport and if Pirates want him, then they have to talk to them first. It’s only when the two clubs have agreed, that I will be involved,” added Makaab.
Gyimah made 22 starts and one substitute appearance for Matsatsantsa a Pitori last season, and remains an integral part of the SuperSport team.
However, a source close to him told the crew that the 23-year-old Ghanaian player wants to move to a bigger club to increase his chances of getting a national team call-up.
Gyimah, who played for Wa All Stars in Ghana before moving to South Africa, could get his wish if Pirates and SuperSport agree on a deal.
