Ghana FA legal team head Ernest Thompson is the latest to push for Avram Grant to be put in charge of the CHAN team following the side’s failure to qualify for next year’s tournament in Rwanda.
The failure of the Local Black Stars from the tournament has reignited the age long-debate about the ideal person to handle the national team.
Black Stars management committee chief George Afriyie backed calls for the A-list Black Stars coach to handle the team, insisting it makes practical sense.
“The FA should put Grant in charge of the CHAN team; that will compel him to stay in the country and monitor local talents,’ he told state-owned Graphic Sports
“The GFA did so with Milo (Rajevac) and should do same for Grant so he can be encouraged to stay in the country and help develop local talents.”
Current coach Maxwell Konadu passed a damning verdict about the quality of local players, claiming it will be a huge risk to include them in the A-list team due to their lack of mental toughness.
