Harvest Chapel Congratulates Starlets

Accra, May 19, GNA - The Harvest Chapel International on Thursday commended the Black Starlets for their splendid performance in the on-going African Under 17 Championship in The Gambia.

A statement issued by the Church's Communication Department on behalf of the head pastor, the Reverend Fitzgerald Odonkor urged coach David Duncan who is a Deacon at Harvest, players and officials to stay focused for the ultimate prize on Sunday.

"The Pastoral Leadership and members are proud of your exploits and continued dependence on God for the victories; we are enlightened about the tactical discipline of the technical team and players, which is a hallmark of greatness," the statement stated.

"The semi-final victory was hard and good, thanks to the Almighty God who makes all things possibly," adding "you must avoid complacency and work extra hard for total victory on Sunday for the Cup, for God would continue to honour His name".

Members of the Church, since the commencement of the tournament, have consistently been praying for the team and assured the team of both spiritual and physical support.

Last Tuesday members at Church Service exploded, with the shout "It's the Power of God, It's the Power of God," chorus when the referee whistled for the end of the match.

The Starlets on Tuesday killed two birds with a single stone when in a dramatic extra time display, they scored two late goals in their semi final match against Cote D'Ivoire to book a place in the finals and the World Under 17 Championship billed for Peru later in the year. The Starlets are scheduled to meet The Gambia, the host country who also beat South Africa, in the finals on Sunday, May 22.
