Hasaacas beat Okwawu to reach second round

Accra, April 5, GNA - Sekondi Hasaacas qualified to the next stage of the special Onetouch Knockout competition when they defeated Okwawu United by a lone goal at the Nkawkaw Park on Wednesday. Okwawu are scheduled to play Swedru All Blacks on Sunday at Tema in the GT Premier League relegation play-offs, and kicked off with determination to carry the day, getting four quick chances in the third, fifth, 10th and 14th minutes when their attackers, led by Obed Owusu, Wisdom Abbey and Azumah Nelson all shot off target.

Hasaacas countered and had two scoring chances in the 35th and 38th minutes but also wasted the chances.

Both teams made two changes in the second half but it was Hasaacas who benefited from the substitutions as they kept the pressure on the home side for a greater part of the half and got the only goal through Alex Gyimah who outwitted two Okwawu defenders before placing the ball on the blind side of Okwawu's goalkeeper, Emmanuel Doe.

Okwawu put everything into the game in search of the much needed equaliser but unfortunately Emmanuel Abito and Obed Owusu wasted two clear scoring chances in the 74th and 80th minutes to the surprise of their teeming supporters even after the Hasaacas keeper, Joseph Addo, on both occasions was out of position.
