Hayatou must resign - Osei Kuffour

Ex-Ghana defender Sammy Kuffuor has charged 'ageing and tiring' CAF president Issa Hayatou to step down.

The former Bayern Munich defender issued a scathing rebuke against the Cameroonian administrator accusing him of hijacking the continent's governing body.

The Confederation of African Football courted controversy again when it awarded the African Footballer of the Year accolade to Gabonese superstar Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at the expense of hugely tipped Yaya Toure and Ghana midfielder Andre Ayew.

Hayatou, who is 69, has been at the helm of the affairs of African football since 1988.

And the Ghanaians legend says it is time for Hayatou and his cronies who are part of the older generation to leave office.

“For me I think he (Hayatou) must resign as CAF President. He has ruled for some time and is time for him to leave that position for another person to take over, he is quoted by Ghanasportsonline.

“For me he is tired and the strength to work is no more, he is sometimes even capured on camera sleeping during meetings, which is bad.

“As I said he is tired and is time for him to leave so that someone else will take over.”
