Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has tagged Black Stars midfielder Thomas Partey as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League.

Martinez's compliment comes in reaction to Partey's goal in Arsenal's win over Villa in the Premier League on Saturday, August 24, 2024.

Talking about the goal he conceded, Martinez said he did not put a strong hand on it because he did not notice that it was a shot from the Ghanaian.

“I tried my best to save it. I didn’t know it was a shot from Partey until I raised my head after the ball went in. He’s one of the best midfielders in the league,” the 2022 World Cup winner said.

Thomas Partey put the game to bed with a stunning goal from just outside the box to find the bottom right corner in the 2-0 win. Martinez got his hands on it but could not keep it out.

The goal was Partey's first of the season as Arsenal went on to claim their second victory of the new campaign.
