Hearts of Oak legend Bernard Don Bortey has eulogized late coach Cecil Jones Attuquayefio for the impact on his career.

Bortey and the legendary coach achieved a lot of success at Accra Hearts of Oak winning multiple league titles and the and 2004 CAF Confederation Cup which came at the expense Asante Kotoko.

Under the ‘Sir of Africa football’, Bortey became a household name in the Ghana Premier League and he enjoyed the best years of his football.

Bortey told GTV Sports+ that everyday spent with Attuquayefio was a fulfilling and a learning experience for him.

He mentioned Attuquayefio as the best he worked with and was grateful for the valuable football lessons he taught him.

“I want to thank coach Attuquayefio though I know he is not here. Training and working with him was great because he made me happy everyday. He is the best I worked with and I’m really grateful to him”, he said.

Bortey in a separate interview with Accra-based Onua FM said Ghana’s trophy drought would have been a thing of the past had the nation paid attention to him.

”I am a prophet but people didn’t believe me," he told Accra based radio station. God brought me here on earth to win trophies for Ghana. Whatever, I say I would do, I make sure it’s done, in one of the matches that I played. I predicted I would score four goals and it came to pass. It is not easy to score four goals in one game," he recounted.
