The much publicized super clash between Accra Heart of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko ended with Hearts of Oak emerging winners. The goal came via a contentious penalty awarded to the Phobians by referee Samuel Suker in the dying embers of the game.
Speaking exclusively to Ghanaweb after the game, fans from both sides made known their assessment of referee Samuel Suker's display in the game that saw Hearts bring an end to their 8-year winless run against Kotoko in Accra
As expected, Hearts of Oak fans were appeased with the referee’s output on the day whiles their counterparts felt cheated and were enraged by the decision of the St Thomas Aquinas teacher.
According to some Hearts fans, the referee made a good call because the ball touched the hands of Kotoko defender Ahmed Adams.
But the Kotoko fans minced no words in describing the referee as a ‘cheat’ and a ‘disgrace to football’.
Some also asserted that the referee’s awful display is the reason why Ghanaian match officials do not get representation at CAF and FIFA organized competitions.
Hearts jumped to sixth on the league log whiles Kotoko are still at the summit of table with Aduana Stars who also lost to Abusua Dwarfs.
