Hearts Deny Issuing Dud Cheque

Accra Hearts of Oak have rebuffed suggestions that they issued a dud cheque of ?50m to player Charles Taylor as enticement fee for the player in March this year. Hearts’ Board Secretary, Ernest Thompson is daring Charles Taylor’s solicitors to produce the cheque, which they claim was returned at the bank.

Taylor’s solicitor, Philip Mensah on the other hand is asking the GFA to declare his client a floating player because the money which Hearts was supposed to pay as consideration for the contract failed to clear with the bank.

Mensah says Thompson is not accurately representing the issue.

Meanwhile, exclusive news to JoyOnline indicate that world soccer governing, FIFA Thursday evening sent another correspondence to the Ghanaian FA stating that Charles Taylor would be free after serving his ban.

The FA is yet to communicate this to the parties involved in the dispute.

But with the latest case of the dud cheque, many are wondering the new dimension the saga has taken.

FA management members on Thursday held a meeting on the issue that has seen so much tension within the FA setup.
