Accra Hearts of Oak will play host to the Benin national team in a special international friendly at the Accra Stadium on Sunday. The match has been arranged to get the two teams ready for their respective international assignments.
Hearts have capitalised on the current suspension of the Premier League to intensify their preparations for next weekend's CAF Champions League encounter against Etoile Du Sahel of Tunisia. For the Phobians, this will be their third training match in a week. Last Sunday, they lost 3-2 to King Faisal in a thrilling match at the Accra Stadium, before succumbing 2-0 to Ashantigold (formerly Goldfields) in another duel at the same venue last Wednesday.
The Squirrels of Benin will also use this exercise as a tune-up towards their crucial opening World Cup qualifier against Cameroun early next month. The Beninois will be led by their Ghanaian head coach, Cecil Jones Attuquayefio who made history by qualifying the Squirrels to their first ever Nations Cup in Tunisia last January.
But having lost twice at home within four days, Hearts' coach, Ernst Middendorp, will be under pressure to redeem himself come Sunday. The rates for the match are: VIP? ?80,000, Wings ? ?60,000, Upper Terrace ? ?50,000, Osu South/North Wing ? ?30,000 and Popular Stand ? ?20,000.
Meanwhile, Sekondi Hasaacas await Liberty Professionals at the Gyandu Park on Sunday in a friendly game that will test the visitors ahead of their CAF Confederations Cup assignment next week. Both sides find themselves in Zone B of the Special League and they will have a fair idea of the opposition that confront them in the upcoming league when they meet.
Aside of that, it will serve a purpose of fine-tuning for Liberty before their continental game against Stade Tunisien of Tunisia arrives next week.
