Former Black Stars and Hearts of Oak player, Jacob Nettey has tasked players of both Hearts Oak and Asante Kotoko to start making their fans happy, an action he stressed will go a long way to ease their financial burden.

Jacob who led Hearts of Oak to win its first ever CAF Champions League Trophy in 2000 mentioned that once the fans are happy about your performance, win or lose, they tend to give you gifts.

“I remember that sometimes our salaries also delayed, but back then we did not feel it because the fans were taking car of us in so many ways.”

“From foodstuffs to money to fuel for our cars, you name it, we had it all, thanks to our performance on the field of play for Hearts of Oak”, Jacob Nettey mentioned in a chat with ghanafootballnews.com.

Jacob who now lives in his own house has never travelled outside Ghana to ply his trade, playing for Hearts of Oak his entire career, and this he stressed is a testimony to what he is saying.

“I built and live in my own house now, all thanks to the good works I was able to achieve with Hearts of Oak and the help from the fans.”

“Teams like Hearts and Kotoko have passionate supporters and its a blessing for any player to be associated with them. But many if not all of them in recent times have failed to see this reality.”

A Kotoko fan or Hearts fan can just see you in town and decide to buy you something or pay you bill at a supermarket all thanks to how good you make them feel when watching you.”
