The Board Chairman of Hearts of Oak, Mr. Ato Ahwoi, has declared that the Phobians are ready to wrest the CAF Super Cup from Enyimba Club of Nigeria.?The team is ready for anybody, even Real Madrid,? Mr. Ahwoi stressed.
speaking in an interview with the Graphic Sports in Accra last Monday, he said after winning the historic Confederation Cup at the expense of Asante Kotoko last Sunday, he was very confident that Hearts would win the Super Cup for the second time against Enyimba next month.
?This year?s victory is the second chance God has given to the club to play among the top clubs in the world, and we will not let it slip by. The team will do everything possible to beat Enyimba, come February?, Mr Ahwoi emphasised. The Board chairman recalled that after winning the Super Cup in 2000, Hearts were supposed to play in the World Club Championship, but that did not materialise due to lack of sponsorship.
According to Mr. Ahwoi, given the hectic task ahead some new players will be recruited to strengthen the team.
He said the club is proud of the achievement of coach Atuquayefio for winning the 2000 CAF Champions League and Super Cup, as well as the maiden Confederation Cup.
? Jones is a winning coach. His achievements as a coach are, perhaps, due to the fact that he was a great player himself,? he noted.
He also commeded Hearts, former German coach, Ernst Middendorp, for laying a good foundation for coach Attuquayefio to build upon. Mr. Ahwoi expressed his gratitude to all those who contributed to Hearts? success story especially, the teeming supporters.
