Officials of Accra Hearts of Oak are set to begin contract talks with coach Sir Cecil Jones Attuquayefio on Wednesday.
Jones whose current contract with the Phobians run out with the completion of the two leg confederation cup finals told Joy Sports after the final that he was ready to negotiate a new contract since the Phobians had yet to offer him a contract extension.
But Hearts of Oak?s interim management committee chairman Thomas Okine is confident the club will be able to negotiate a contract extension with Jones when discussions open Wednesday.
The 2000 African coach of the year renowned for guiding the club to the African Champions League in 2000, Super Cup in 2001 and now the Confederation Cup resigned as Benin national team coach last year to take up the Hearts of Oak coaching reins.
Cecil Jones Attuquayefio agreed a short-term deal with Hearts in August 2004.
Jones who was positive of achieving success in his second coming at the time stated that he could only leave after the continental campaign.
But handing Accra Hearts of Oak the continental trophy again has forced the phobian management to consider a contract extension for their successful manager in the club?s 94-year history.
Jones took over the Hearts job from Ernst Middendorp in August 2004 after the German left the club for personal reasons.
