Ghanaian giants Hearts of Oak have returned to the negotiating table with Daniel Agyei in a last minute bid to force the former Ghana U20 goalkeeper to sign for the Accra-based giants, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

A proposed move for the Liberty Professionals shot-stopper to the Phobians collapsed last month Agyei is demanding over $42,000 before he signs for the club ahead of the start of the new season.

Agyei, whose current deal with Liberty Professionals ends before the commencement of the new season, has disclosed that Hearts’ offer, however, fell below his expectation.

But after shambolic signing of nine players which led to disastrous results in three pre-season friendlies with the Phobians conceding nine goals in three matches has led to the rude awakening that unless top players are signed they are doomed for relegation.

As such, the board has directed for top players to be signed to bring back the glory to the Phobians and the first move is to ensure Daniel Agyei is signed.

Clubs top hierarchy opened negotiations with the goalkeeper again over the weekend and they are expected to reach an agreement over his demands with the desire to return to the top of the game in Africa by signing top players, insiders have told Ghanasoccernet.com.

The Liberty Professionals shot-stopper, who is an international goalkeeper also with the Black Stars, was reported to be demanding over GHC80,000 per season from the Phobians.

This means he will net GHC160,000 for the two years he will spend with Hearts if he agrees to sign.

“We had talks with Hearts and we presented a proposal but there was no agreement," Agyei said after the deal collapsed.

“They came back with an offer but was difficult for me to accept it. I expected the parties involved to sit down and discuss an acceptable package", he explained.

The 26-year-old has returned to Ghana after spending his holidays in Holland ahead of the start of the new season.

Agyei has confirmed that he is he was in talks with Hearts of Oak and would make the switch to the Rainbow club if his demands are met.

Hearts of Oak are desperate to land the 2009 U-20 World Cup winner as they plot to offload Tetteh Luggard while sending Mutawakilu Seidu on loan for the coming season.
