Accra Hearts of Oak have begun their pre-season training without a substantive coach but in determined mood that they will be in perfect shape for the next football season.
About 15 players engaged in purely physical exercises on Tuesday, October 20 at the Black Star Square Beach under the supervision of team manager Saban Quaye.
The former Ghana champions have no coach yet and no idea when the next Ghana football season begins but Accra Hearts of Oak want to be the early bird that catches the Ghana league worm so they have set their stall early.
Their target for the coming season is fairly simple. It is to improve massively on their league showing last term and ensure that rather spend long spells of the season with the relegation threatened tag, they will be up and around the top end competing for titles, according to captain Robin Gnagbe.
“Last season we all acknowledge we didn’t play well so this season we want to do much, much better that is why this pre-season is so important. We want to be ready and in the best possible shape,” he said.
With a new coach due to come and new players inevitably to arrive, defender Owusu Bempah reckons Hearts will be a much stronger unit this season than they have ever been
“We have started on a note that there’s no coach but we going to start from the basis, the coach will come and take his job and then take us through,” the right back said.
