Accra Hearts of Oak newly appointed Team Manager believes the Phobians can win the 2013/14 First Capital Plus Premier League.
Addressing the media at the club’s secretariat on Tuesday just before they clash with Obuasi AshantiGold at the Accra Sports Stadium, the former skipper of the once victorious team noted that his time as a manager would be different from others because he is going to duel on the depth of knowledge he has on the game and his experience.
According to Mireku who led the 64 Battalion Squad that included top players like Ishmael Addo, Edmund Copson, Charles Allotey, Emmanuel Osei Kuffour and others, he has come to join the club he loves so much with the aim and ambition of delivering them from defeats and ensure that the Phobian Glory is restored.
Amankwah Mireku who was appointed alongside Goalkeepers Trainer Eben Dida Armah and James Bortey Commey, a Physiotherapist and were introduced at the media briefing said Hearts has got the materials as the current crop of players are very good and can perform is given the adequate motivation and inspiration.
He recalled how he joined Accra Hearts of Oak in a justification exercise which he passed and was appointed captain of the great club till he led them to conquer Africa and achieve many laurels.
“In fact it is a privilege for me to serve Hearts and I want to make Hearts succeed because I was once a player and should be able to help groom other players to become super stars” he told yours truly
He appealed to the fans to come to the stadium to watch matches as this is the only way the fans can inspire the players to perform better to overtake Asante Kotoko and win the league.
The ex-skipper stressed that the eleven point gap between Hearts and Kotoko can be closed and if Hearts players are determined they can shock football fans.
Eben Dida Armah who has trained in goalkeepers coaching at the Red Bull Academy and in Thailand as well as Austria said he has what it takes to stop Hearts from losing and after three games of being in charge of the goalkeepers, the whole world will know why he said he has the answers to Hearts’ problems.
Neil Armstrong – Mortagbe Managing Director of Accra Hearts of Oak said the club is becoming more popular despite lying second on the First Capital Plus League table and was very optimistic that in the second season of the restoration process, things will change and Hearts supporters will be happy.
He hinted that Hearts were in good relationship with their sponsors SAS as they still give the club 60,000 every month for preparation towards matches.
Mr. Lawrence Ofosu Agyare, Vice Chairman of the National Chapters Committee who is based in Kumasi promise fans of Hearts that they are going to beat Kotoko in Kumasi and termed that game as “Bebibesi” which means something will happen.
He also charged all true Hearts supporters not to stay at home, but storm the stadium to add to the support.
