Hearts of Oak management led by Gerald Ankrah has confirmed that his outfit are currently in talks with German gaffer Ernst Midderndorp over the vacant coaching role of the club.

The Phobians are currently in the market scouting for a coach after the sacking of Herbert Addo last July as stop-gap coach Eddie Ansah brought an end to his duties at the end of the Ghanaian season.

According to reports in the local media, Ernst Midderndorp who coached Hearts of Oak 11 years ago when he guided the Phobians to the group stage of the maiden edition of the Confederations Cup is currently in talks with the Accra giants over a possible return into the club’s technical department.

However, reports also suggest that the Phobians have also expressed interest in Medeama’s trainer Tom Strand and relegated Heart of Lions’ coach Yusif Abubakar but despite those reportage, Ernst Midderndorp is seen as the front runner for the top job.

Managing Director and the head of the club’s management, Gerald Ankrah has confirmed the Accra giants are in talks with Ernst Midderdorp adding that no deal has been reached between the two parties.

“Yes we are in talks with him [Ernst Midderndorp], he will be considered in line with others but no decision yet,” Ankrah exclusively told Allsports.com.gh.
