Hearts could not meet Medeama's GHc180,000 demand

Board Secretary of Medeama SC, Emmanuel Larbi Amoah has branded the quest of Accra Hearts of Oak to sign Tom Strand from Medeama a joke other than what they expected to be a business.

Hearts announced their declined in the pursuit of the Swedish tactician through it official newspaper, Hearts News on Tuesday citing reasons of extra normal financial demands from both Strand and his employers.

Larbi Amoah, a lawyer, speaking to Allsports.com.gh in reaction to what the Phobians claim were exorbitant compensation demands from the Tarkwa based club for their coach said Hearts showed no seriousness in their bid and that is the reason for their failure to return to the negotiation table after last Friday's meeting in Accra.

Larbi Amoah revealed Hearts offered Twenty Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHc20,000) and later increased their bid to Thirty Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHc30,000) while Medeama demanded One Hundred And Eighty Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHc180,000) as compensation for their coach who signed a two year contract last season.

Lawyer Amoah says such an offer for a coach who is under contract and a winner of the FA Cup,bound to go for the CAF Confederations Cup next season meant Hearts were not serious and he further reckoned that the Phobians failed to appreciate the cost of recruitment had Tom Strand departed Medeama.

"It's a joke to table 20,000 Cedis for someone's coach who is under contract. How much will it cost us to sign a new coach and work with him for even one season. It shows they were not serious"
