Hearts declare Thursday day of prayer and fasting

Accra, Nov. 9, GNA - The Interim Management Committee of Accra Hearts of Oak has declared Thursday, November 11, a day of prayer and fasting for the team ahead of their crucial Confederation Cup match against Cotonsport Goroua of Cameroon at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.

The exercise was initiated Mr S.T. Nettey, Patron and Spiritual Leader of the club.

A statement signed by Mr Ashford Tettey-Oku, Administrative Manager of Hearts said all supporters, irrespective of wherever they are, are to observe the day as such to enlist God's support for a total victory in favour of Hearts.

The statement said all supporters and sympathisers should specify on victory over Cotonsports in their prayers and demand divine intervention for the progress of the team in all endeavours as they commence the prayer session at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, the day of the fasting.

The statement hoped that all genuine "Phobians" would take active part in the spiritual exercise to ensure that the club wins its third CAF trophy this year.

In 2000, Hearts won the African Champions League and the African Super Cup but the club has failed to make any meaningful impact in continental competitions ever since.
