Accra Hearts of Oak Team Manager Sabahn Quaye has called on his side to stay united as they embrace their first Premier League title in seven years.
A wonderful goal by striker Cosmos Dauda last Sunday reclaimed the top spot for the Phobians after beating Sekondi Hasaacas 1-0 at the Essipong Sports Stadium.
In a post-match interview, Sabahn said called on all stakeholders of the club to stay united if they are to achieve their target for the season.
“Our supporters should have patience with us,” he told facebook.com/accraheartsofoak
“When we get out of Accra, we play well, and we play better games. But we want to transfer these good performances on the road to the Accra Sports Stadium because that is our home. We need full support from our fans to be able to play good football and feel at home in Accra.
“I am calling for a united front on all sides – from the rank and file of the club – now that we have taken the lead on the table. We need unity to be able to achieve our season desire of winning the league title.
“When we came to play Hasaacas, the very moment we landed on the pitch, we felt at home because of the way the fans supported us. We will need more support too at home [Accra] so that we can deliver for the fans.
“We are now on top of the league but it is easy to be on top of the table, but it is very difficult to maintain it. So it is a challenge to us – to remain on the top of the table till the season ends – and it is a challenge to our supporters.
We want to maintain the lead at the top together with our supporters so we need a united front, and we should fight as Phobians.”
