Accra Hearts of Oak have shockingly announced a 100% increase in the prices of tickets for their home matches at the Accra Sports Stadium following their blistering start to the season.
Tickets which stood for GHC5, GHC10 and GHC15 will now go for GHC10, GHC15 and GHC20 respectively.
The Phobians have enjoyed massive following in their opening two matches and believe the fans will troop to the stadium to cheer the team as they host lowly-ranked Bechem United.
However fears over the economic situation in the country and the immense desire to fill the stadium with fans could be defeated by the massive hikes.
According to the Public Relations Officer of the club, Opare Addo, clubs like Techiman City charged GHC10 at the popular stands but they have continuously registered high attendance.
He maintains that it is one of the numerous ways the fans can contribute to the development of the club.
"If clubs like Techiman City are able to charge GHC10 at the popular stand and still have fans trooping to watch their matches, why not Hearts? Opare questioned.
"When we went to Cape Coast, most of the fans there were Hearts fans and the same thing applies to the numbers at Tarkwah. So the fans will come no matter what," Opare said on Asempa FM.
Hearts of Oak are now second on the table with seven points from three matches.
