Former Hearts of Oak midfielder Charles Taylor says that he has on countless occasions been threatened by some disgruntled fans who are yet to come to terms with his move to Kotoko in 2003.

In one of the most controversial and protracted transfer stories in Ghana football history, Taylor crossed carpet to Kotoko having become an established figure at Hearts.

The move is some three years away from two decades but the feeling of betrayal which engulfed some Hearts fans is yet to die down, according to Taylor.

Since his retirement from the game, Taylor has often been bashed by Hearts fans for supposedly making comments that malign and belittle the club.

His latest comment which was an attack on board member Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe forced the club to issue a response in which they criticized him and urged all former players to desist from passing negative remarks about the club.

But Taylor says his words have often been taken out of context by Hearts fans who are yet to forgive him for moving to Kotoko.

Taylor says contrary to assertions that he dislikes Hearts of Oak, he is grateful to the club and it will always have a special place in his heart.

"Whenever my view is sought on matters relating to Hearts, I receive a lot of threats and backlash from the supporters.Surprisingly it is always the reversal anytime I criticize Kotoko.

“I think it's borne out of hattred the supporters of Hearts have for me.It was through the platform of Hearts of Oak that I have gotten to this stage, I am always disturbed when I see the club sinking”.

Taylor won the CAF Champions League with Hearts in 2000 and won multiple league titles with the Phobians.
