Hearts of Oak midfielder Emmanuel Nettey is of the firm conviction that they are the biggest club in the history of Ghana football.
Nettey, a lifelong Hearts fan is living a dream of playing for his boyhood club.
The midfielder has had an explosive start to his Hearts of Oak career and is often mentioned as a potential Black Stars player.
Nettey disclosed on Sports Check that playing for Hearts of Oak has been a wish of him and his father and he is happy to be playing for the club.
He recounted the earlier stages of his life when he had to watch some of the club’s great players play at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Nettey says though he could have played for Hearts earlier, he is happy to finally live a childhood dream.
He has no doubt in his mind that Hearts are bigger than their Kumasi rivals, Asante Kotoko.
“It’s been a joy and I’m really happy donning the colors of Hearts of Oak because this is one of the biggest clubs in Africa and the biggest club in Ghana because they are continental club masters. It is my opinion and its what I believe in. We are the biggest club in Ghana”.
“I grew up as a Hearts fan but had to play other clubs because I believe in the timing of God. If I had rushed to play, maybe I wouldn’t be making waves like now. We plan but God decides and He says this is the time for me to play for Hearts of Oak”, he said.
Hearts of Oak are 20-times Ghana Premier League champions, won 10 FA Cup trophies, a CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup titles and a Super Cup.
