Hearts of Oak reacts to David Duncan's comments

The attention of Management of Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club Limited has been drawn to remarks made by Mr. David Duncan, erstwhile Head Coach of our club. In making these remarks, David Duncan made reference to certain matters of historical record some of which we find to be at variance with the club's records. But that shall not be the substance of this Press Release.

We register our surprise at David Duncan's public remarks on a matter that is still pending before the Player Status Committee [an internal adjudicating body of the Ghana Football Association] - a matter which he himself presented to the said Committee and on which the Committee is yet to make a final pronouncement.

Whilst that matter is pending, the club has made good on its obligation to pay David Duncan the equivalent of his three months' salary in lieu of notice of termination of his contract.

Given the foregoing, we find his conduct in making these public remarks rather strange.

As a club, we have referred the recording of Mr. Duncan's remarks to our Lawyers for review and advice. We shall proceed in an appropriate manner thereafter.

Thank you for your kind attention.

Signed:

Neil Armstrong-Mortagbe
