Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Eric Ofori Antwi has denied claims by coach Aboubakar Ouattara that he is no longer with the club.
The Ivorian coach had stated that Ofori Antwi was no longer part of the team, with reports indicating that the goalkeeper’s contract expired in January 2024.
In an interview with Medeama FM, Ofori Antwi clarified his contract status, revealing that he still has a year remaining on his contract and continues to receive his salary despite being absent for 11 months due to a serious injury.
"I still have a contract with Hearts of Oak, but I understand the coach because since he took the job, he hasn’t seen me in camp due to my injury. I still have a contract with the club until August 2025.
"My injury has affected me, and that’s the reason I’m not part of the group, but I still get paid. The club pays my salary every month," Ofori Antwi explained.
The goalkeeper also suggested that the club might want to part ways with him but emphasized that any such decision could only be made after his surgery.
