Hearts pip Okwawu United

Accra, June 27, GNA - Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club on Sunday defeated Okwawu United by a lone goal in a friendly football match at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The match served as a preparatory ground for the two sides towards their respective competitive assignments but witnessed a boring and unexciting first half with no sides creating any clear-cut chances to score.

Hearts on resumption opened the scores through substitute Louis Agyeman in the 61st minute when he tapped in a cross from Frank Turkson. This was after the Soccer Mountaineers had taken the homesters through an intensive pressure with Mohammed Polo and Kwesi Kyeremanteng failing to find the net.

Okwawu however, nearly came close to levelling up after the goal but on most occasions that they came close the defence of the Phobians stood firm to avert any danger, whilst the likes of Don Bortey, Abbey and Agyeman on the other hand could also not convert their chances till the end of regulation time.

In another development, Hearts defeated Obuasi AshantiGold with the same goal margin, 1-0 at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium on Saturday. Hearts veteran striker Emmanuel Osei-Kuffour was the goal scorer.
