Hearts return to training on Wednesday

Accra, Jan 11, GNA - Two days after their conquest of Kumasi Asante Kotoko in the finals of the Confederation Cup competition, Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club are leaving no stone unturned in their bid to annex the Super Cup.

Hearts, who are scheduled to play Enyimba Club of Nigeria for the Super Cup will return to serious training on Wednesday afternoon at the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium in Accra to begin their preparations for the assignment.

The training is expected to start at exactly 3:00pm. According to the Mr. Ashford Tettey-Oku, Administrative Manager of the Club, the early training regime is to propel the club to higher grounds after establishing their status in Ghana as the nation's best club and to ensure the re-annexation of the Super Cup, which they first won in 2001 after they beat Zamalek of Egypt.

Aside the Super Cup, the Club is also to prepare for the GHALCA Top Four Tournament, which is scheduled to kick start on January 23, as well as the decider for the 2004 league, which is also against Kotoko. Mr Tettey-Oku told the GNA Sports that the early call of the players to training is also to afford coach Cecil Jones Attuquayefio, the undisputed best coach in Africa to give his players the right tactical and technical plans for the Enyimba game and other competitive assignments.

The Confederations of Africa Football (CAF) is yet to announce the date for the game between Hearts and the Nigerian side, but according to the regulations guiding the tournament, the Super Cup is to be played two weeks after the two major competitions on the continent; Champions League and Confederation Cup have been cleared.

In another development, the playing body and the technical team of Hearts will make an official presentation of the trophy to the hierarchy of the club at a brief ceremony at the Clubs' secretariat in Accra at 2:00 pm on Wednesday.

The Council of Patrons of the club, Board of Directors, members of the Interim Management Committee (IMC) and other officials of the club are expected to attend and grace the ceremony.
