Hearts slips into relegation zone

Accra Hearts of Oak slipped into the relegation zone of the Glo Premier League as they suffered an embarrassing 3-1 defeat at the hands of Medeama FC in the 14th week league game at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Medeama scored first in the 4th minute of the game through Godfred Rockson, but Mahatma Otoo equalized for Hearts in the 10 minute when he connected a scrappy cross from Paul Acquah.

Hearts failed to settle after the equalizer and allowed the visitors to take the lead again through Eric Nyarko who headed home a well measured cross in the 15th minute.

Though Medeama played the last quarter of the game with ten men, as Tanko Mohamed was shown a red card for a violent tackle on Ashietey Ollenu, but Hearts struggled to cancel the lead before the close of the half as several scoring opportunities went wasted.

On resumption, Hearts were ahead in possession, but Medeama, were more effective with series of counter attacks that left the Hearts defence wanting anytime they were confronted by the lads from Tarkwa.

Medeama succeeded in scoring the third goal, through Gordon Joseph whose 35 yarder easily beat Tetteh Luggard in post for Hearts.

Hearts made attempts at redeeming their image following the introduction of Kofi Abanga, Gilbert Fiamenyo and Romeo Abban but were unable to convert chances that came their way.
