Hearts to form supporters branches within companies

Accra, April 4, GNA - The National Chapters Committee (NCC) of Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club, the supporter's body of the Club would soon inaugurate 16 of its branches in some corporate organisations across the country.

Mr Ken Saro Wiwa, the Public Relations Officer of the NCC disclosed this in the press statement copied to the GNA Sports in Accra on Monday. According to the statement, the move is meant to harness resources of all Phobians in the corporate sector as part of the plan and effort to mobilise followers as well as generate more funds for the running of the Club.

The statement mentioned the organisations as MERSK Ghana Limited, Ghana Telecom, The Trust Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, Ghana Ports and Harbour Authority (GHAPOHA), UNILEVER Ghana Limited, Barclays Bank Ghana Limited and Merchant Bank Ghana Limited.

The rest are ECOBANK, Metropolitan and Allied Bank, Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) Department of National Lotteries, The Fidelity Group, VALCO, GHACEM and Electricity Company of Ghana. In another development, the committee has sent a congratulatory message to all members of the Phobian fraternity for the support they rendered to the Club during the 2004 League decider against Kumasi Asante Kotoko at the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium in Accra on Sunday.

A statement signed by Mr Neil Armstrong Mortagbe, Chairman of the NCC, said the annexation of the 2004 league trophy was as a result of the unflinching support the team enjoyed during the match.

The statement also congratulated the coach and the playing body for their gallant performance and the management board for putting the necessary structures in place to ensure the Club's success.
