Hearts to launch fans player awards

Managing Director of Accra Hearts of Oak, Neil Armstrong Mortagbe has revealed that the club is set to launch a fans’ player of the month and player of the season award scheme in the coming days.

According to Neil, exciting and exceptional players of the club deserve some recognition from their own fans hence their decision to embark on such an innovation.

The novelty will commence next month and Fans will have the chance to nominate their favorite player of the month by sending SMS to a short code to determine who indeed deserve to be crowned as the fans’ player for the month of November.

“As I have indicated some time ago, we want to restore the Phobian glory and that is what we want to do.

"We are coming out with the fans’ Player of the month award and the fans’ player of the season award. We at Hearts of Oak think that is about time we rewarded our own players. We don’t have to wait for somebody to do that for us. We know which players deserve awards and those who don’t,” Neil Armstrong said this during the club’s press briefing at its secretariat on Thursday.

Meanwhile, assistant coach Ben Adjei has applauded the management of the club for such novelty, adding this will be key in the success story of the Phobians. “I think it is a good idea and I know some of the players will be happy with this. Everybody wants to be successful and that is what will ginger these players. I know from now onwards these players will fight and do something unique for this club.”
