Champion Club Accra Hearts of Oak have registered their displeasure with the decision by the (Professional League Board) PLB to reschedule the 27th week league matches for Wednesday, October 30.
In a letter addressed to the acting Chairman of the PLB, Hearts' Administrative Manager, Ashford Tettey Oku, expressed "the frustrations and disappointment at the way the PLB is struggling to see the 2002 season through."
The letter alluded to speculative and manipulative reasons as responsible for the postponements, and added that the situation has not only affected the public's interest in the game and the financial position of the clubs, but also "diluted the competitive spirit and value of the 2002 league" and has "set a bad precedent for Ghanaian clubs that travel outside and doctor their return flights to suit their aspirations."
It further said Hearts have kept silent over the subject for this while in order not to create the impression that they are in league with a section of the population that have "questioned the fairness and justification for the frequent postponements."
"We at Hearts of Oak are simply not convinced and urge the PLB to get its acts together and avoid a repetition since this kind of unprofessional handling of the game is not only a setback to securing sponsorship for the league, but also a key factor that militates against the growth, development and success of Ghanaian clubs participating in inter-continental club competitions as they have little time to negotiate, recruit and register new players to strengthen their teams by November 30 as stipulated by CAF," the letter said.
