Accra Hearts of Oak goalkeeper, Tetteh Lugard* *says he is optimistic about his side winning this season’s MTN FA Cup.
The Phobians edged out Division One League side, BA Stars last Sunday courtesy a late Mahatma Otoo free-kick to earn a 1-0 win. The win enabled Hearts to book their place in the round of 16 of the knockout competition.
The young goalkeeper who has cemented his position as the first choice goalie ever since Coach David Duncan took over the reins at the Oak Tree last year, is brimming with confidence that the FA Cup is there for the taking for his club this year.
“We showed BA Stars that we are Hearts of Oak with our never say die spirit to get that late win,” young Lugard told GBC Sports.
He added: “We want to win the FA Cup and we are happy to have advanced to the next round of the competition. Yes the MTN FA Cup will be for Hearts of Oak this season by the Grace of God.”
Hearts of Oak will now turn their attention to the Ghana Premier League with a home tie against relegation threatened Berekum Arsenal this weekend at the Accra Sports Stadium, whilst waiting to know their next opponent in the FA Cup when the draw is held for the round of 16.
Hearts of Oak are the most successful club in the competition’s history having won the cup on nine occasions with the first being in 1973 and the recent in 2000.
