The Communications Director of Accra Hearts of Oak, Opare Addo, revealed that the club is yet to conclude a deal with their former skipper Thomas Abbey.

Abbey left Hearts at the end of the 2016/17 Ghana Premier League after his contract expired. But he is back to the club and has been training with the team for the past two weeks.

Despite his return to the club, Mr Opare says they are yet to conclude a deal with the energetic attacking midfielder.

“The club have made an offer to him [Thomas Abbey] and we are waiting for his response so that we can continue from there. It is positive news because he has started training with us and we are hoping that he will not go back but we will continue from where we are so that we can sign him. Individual demands vary because he is asking for what is good for him but as a club, we must also present what is good for the club.”

After the exit of Kwame Kizito to Libyan side, Al Ittihad, the Phobians have struggled to find the back of the net but Opare reiterated that the club is yet to find a suitable striker to fill the vacuum left by the 21-year-old striker.

“We are still looking for additions especially in that striking department and I believe that whoever comes in must come in with something extra. The door is not closed and I am very confident even though it has become very difficult finding a very suitable striker for the team, we are still searching for one.”

Hearts of Oak begin their 2017/18 Ghana Premier League campaign at the Nana Ameyaw Park Techiman when they take on debutant, Eleven Wonders.
