The office of the Ghana Football Association remains closed and continues to be under heavy police guard despite a court order to the Registrar General’s Department to return all assets in its possession belonging to the association.

The office had been under police protection since the investigative video by Anas Aremeyaw Anas, which exposed the alleged corrupt deals of the then President of the football association, Mr Kwesi Nyantakyi, and other officials.

When the Happy FM‘s correspondent Samuel Addo visited the GFA offices about 8:20 am on Wednesday, the main entrance to the yard had been locked, while a Formed Police Unit (FPU) vehicle was parked on the premises.

Also spotted were two policemen standing at the premises.

The main building had also been cordoned off with a police security tape.

On Tuesday, an Accra High Court has ordered the Registrar General’s Department to return all assets in its possession belonging to the Ghana Football Association.

This follows Deputy Attorney General, Godfred Dame’s application on Tuesday, to withdraw a petition the state filed earlier to liquidate the country’s football governing body and all its assets.

The court has also revoked its earlier order appointing the Registrar General, Jemimah Oware, as the Official Liquidator of GFA.

The state rescinded its decision to dissolve the football body after meeting with officials of the world football governing body, FIFA.

FIFA had issued a warning to the government of Ghana to withdraw its plans to “interfere” with the matters of GFA or the country might face a ban from football activities.

A government delegation led by the Sports Minister, Isaac Kwame Asiamah, travelled to Zurich to negotiate with FIFA on the way forward.

However, GoG and FIFA after meeting agreed to establish a Normalization committee to replace the Ghana Football Executive Committee.
