The undue delay of Ghana Football Association (GFA) disciplinary legal tussles has stirred Nana Fitz to propose permanent legal brains to handle such cases.
To the football administrator, that will ensure that those tasked to handle disciplinary related cases will expedite their duties.
He revealed that the delay of cases stifles the Association’s seasons calendar, citing the infamous Alhaji Gruzah Vs the GFA, which delayed last two season’s league for almost seven months as a classical example.
Speaking to this writer at his Mile 7 residence in Accra, he attributed the delay of disciplinary cases to the fact that lawyers who serve in that capacity are not permanently employed.
He said “It is high time the FA employed permanent lawyers to handle disciplinary related cases. I believe such cases delay because the lawyers work on temporal basis.
“Elsewhere, tougher and complex cases are handled within days because of the readiness and availability of the legal experts.
“It is different in our case; the lawyers are not permanent staffers so cases are handled as and when they are not busy.”
“We have realized over the years that the practice hasn’t done our game any good. Alhaji Gruzah took the Premier League hostage when he dragged the FA to court resulting in the late start of last season’s league,” he added.
