History beckons this evening for South African talisman Percy Tau as Ghana play host to South Africa in the African Cup of Nation's qualifier at the Cape Coast stadium.
The petite playmaker can write his name in the annals of South African football when he scores at least a goal against the Black Stars of Ghana.
Tau has already notched up an impressive nine goals in only 23 appearances for his national team and could join an elite team of players who have scored double figures for the Bafana Bafana this evening.
Only 11 players have reached double figures in terms of goals scored for Bafana since readmission in 1992‚ a paltry number to say the least‚ but Tau could join them against the Black Stars in Cape Coast.
The former Sundowns forward would be the second quickest Bafana player ever to reach that mark.
Benni McCarthy took 18 games to score his first 10 Bafana goals and heads the list as the fastest to that mark‚ going on to become the country’s record scorer in internationals with 31 goals.
McCarthy would net 21 goals in his next 62 internationals as his scoring rate plummeted in a national team jersey after the fast start.
