Hitech FC beat Asta FM in a friendly match

Techiman (B/A), Jan.30 GNA - A Techiman Akpeteshie Distillers Company's football club, HITECH Football Club at the weekend beat ASTA FM Radio Station 5-3 in a friendly football match at the Ameyaw Sports Stadium.

Half time score stood at 2-1 in favour of HITECH.

The HITECH team opened the scores in the 27th minute through their right half-back, Gordon Twumasi Ankrah but ASTA FM quickly came into the game and forced their opponents into their own half and rightly got the equalizer in the 40th minute through centre forward, Isaac Kwame while HITECH's inside left, Kofi Gyimah increased his side's score to 2-1 in the 44th minute before the recess.

On resumption of the second half, HITECH who looked more purposeful in attack pinned ASTA FM in their own half that eventually resulted to their conceding a penalty when inside left, Gyimah was brought down in the box and the resultant was converted by Gyimah in the 62nd minute. HITECH who continued to dominate the game scored their fourth and fifth goals in the 69th and 80th minutes respectively through Gyimah who scored a hat trick.

ASTA FM quickly made amends and managed to score two more goals in the 83rd and 85th minutes through an own goal scored by Samuel Ofori who in an attempt to scissor- kick the ball in a goalmouth melee shot into his own net while centre forward Mohammed Wahab scored the third goal. Nana Okofo Kwasi Asansu, Gyasehene of Hansua who later presented footballs worth 350,000 cedis to the winners donated by Mr Reginald K. Agyeman-Badu, the Nkoranza District Director of Education asked the two teams not to relent in their efforts to build and maintain their sportsmanship and to unearth football talents in the Municipality. The Gyasehene commended the Radio Station for their efforts in the promotion of sporting disciplines and said more of such activities should be organised to enhance the health of the people.

The Director of HITECH Company, Mr. Owusu Kyeremeh in an interview with GNA Sports expressed his gratefulness to the Nkoranza Director of Education and ASTA FM for advertising the company, which he said had encouraged them to form the football club.

Mr. Kyeremeh gave the assurance that the Company which had over 20 labour force would continue to create good relationship with both the electronic and print media for the sustenance of the company and the club.

The Captain of HITECH, Nana Ote Tumtumso "Body", who received the footballs on behalf of the team thanked Mr. Agyeman-Badu for his donation and concern towards the promotion of sports in the Municipality.
