I always wanted Jordan to leave Marseille – Andre Ayew

Ghana international Andre Ayew has revealed that he was in favour of his brother Jordan leaving Marseille and is happy it has yielded dividends.

Ayew, who scored over the weekend for Lorient against Metz, has now netted five goals since his summer move from the Stade Velodromme.

“I was in favour of his departure. It was the best thing for him. When I saw his six months loan in Sochaux, I said, ‘You must go!’ Now he is a very important player for his new club,” Ayew told L'Equipe.

“He scored, he scored. At OM, he was never being recognised at fair value. When you are a young player who was groomed in this club (Marseille), it's always hard to leave. So, sometimes it is better to leave. It was time for him to leave OM,” he added.

Lorient with their win over Metz have now moved to 14th on the Ligue 1 table.
