Ghana legend Rev. Osei Kofi claims he is the best player ever to hail from the country, brushing aside the achievements of players like Abedi Pele and Ibrahim Sunday and Abdul Razak, as he fumes claiming lack of respect for his person.

The 73-year-old cited his impressive international record as having played in and won the Africa Cup of Nations and playing at the Olympic Games three times as ample proof of his greatness.

Now a reverend minister, Osei Kofi who claims he rejected an offer to play in Europe after being recognized as a hugely gifted footballer is unhappy for perceived lack of recognition and respect from his countrymen.

This flies in the face of the achievements of other Ghanaians like Sunday, Rezak Abedi Pele who are the only Ghanaians to have won the African Footballer of the Year as Rev Osei Kofi failed to clinch such an award during his playing days.

The above-mentioned trio also won the Africa Cup of Nations but have not boasted over their achievements as younger players like Stephen Appiah, Michael Essien and Asamoah Gyan have all impressed Ghana fans.

However, Rev Kofi touted and boasted over his credentials as the best Ghana player with other considered greats like Mohammed Polo and Abedi Pele falling by the wayside.

“There is no respect for us nowadays but then no one can match what I have done in Ghana,” Osei Kofi boasted on Nhyira FM.

“There is no one in Ghana who played football as I did, no one.

“I never went for a trial. In 1968 I got an offer to play abroad but I refused to go.

"I refused to leave because of the African Cup, there was no trial, it was a straight deal.

“The offer then in 1968 was 30,000 pounds, how much do you think that will be worth today?

“I have won the African Cup, I have played in the Olympic Games three times, what else is there to achieve?”
