I am happy with Mercy Tagoe’s appointment – Adwoa Bayor

Adwoa Bayor, former African female footballer of the year has expressed delight about the appointment of Mercy Tagoe as the Deputy Coach of the Black Queens of Ghana.

In an interview with the GNA Sports, the former Black Queens captain said she is happy with Mercy Tagoe’s appointment and believes she would learn a lot from experienced Didi Dramani.

“I am happy with Mercy Tagoe’s appointment as assistant coach of the Black Queens, it is enough for the mean time, she is now getting the exposure as a coach and I know gradually she would be fully in charge.

“She played at the highest level as a footballer and she excelled as a referee, but as a coach she needs to go through the ranks.

“I am happy that she’s going to assist Didi Dramani, it would aid her development as a female coach because Didi has vast experience, he has been in the system for long and I believe Mercy would learn a lot from him and perhaps replace him as the head coach in future.

“There are very few women who are into coaching and I think her appointment would encourage many others to take up the challenge.

“I have no problem with men coaching the Queens, but most female players find it difficult telling male coaches their problems and would rather prefer a woman to be in charge, so I am happy with Mercy’s presence there.

“I want to become a coach in future, but I am not rushing, I am taking the coaching course now. My ambition is to become a coach, maybe in future who knows, I could be in charge of the Black Queens”, said Adwoa Bayor.
