Former Juventus midfielder Stephen Appiah has disclosed that he is not in a rush to coach the Black Stars.

The 39-year-old was named as technical team coordinator of the Black Stars in 2017, a role he held until December last year.

Appiah, who quit international football after the 2010 FIFA World Cup has been working on his coaching badges to realise his dream.

"It’s always good to start from somewhere," he said, as reported by Footballmadeinghana.

"I am not rushing to coach the senior national team, I have to get the experience [first].

"So to get the experience from somewhere, why not join Accra Hearts of Oak, I will learn under the Hearts of Oak coach.

"And If I have the chance to handle the [Ghana] U17's, that’s where I would [like to] start from."

The ex-Black Stars skipper featured for Hearts of Oak, Udinese, Parma, Brescia, and Juventus during his playing days.

He also played for Bologna, and Cesena in Serie A, Fenerbahce in Turkey, and Serbian side Vojvodina.
