Jordan based Ben Acheampong has expressed his readiness to compete for a place in the senior national team, the Black Stars.

The former Wa All Stars and Kumasi Asante Kotoko forward expressed his affection for the current Black Stars captain but believes he has enough arsenal to force his way into the Black Stars.

Acheampong racked eight goals in six games for to steer Aqaba clear in the Jordanian second tier league.

Acheampong joined Aqaba from Angola and has become the hottest commodity in the gulf region with scintillating performance on weekly basis.

The agile center forward registered a treble for Aqaba in his second league outing and has since gone on to become a routine goal scorer.

He said, “I am very very ready to fight for a place in the Black Stars. With the way I am playing now, I am sure and ready anytime from now. I can compete for a place in the national team if given the chance”.

The rampant attacker then heaped praises of the Black Stars captain and admitted modelling his game around the former Sunderland striker.

“Since I started playing football at the highest level, Asamoah Gyan is someone I really like. I try to emulate him especially his confidence on the pitch. He is such a confident and a very serious striker and to me he is the best. I draw motivation from him as a player”.

Acheampong made a name for himself on the local scece largely due to his raw pace and aerial duels. The agile center forward then joined Angola giants Petro Athletico before heading to Jordan at the start of the major season in Jordan.
