Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan admits not being in good shape despite a fantastic start at new club Al Ahli.

Gyan, who signed on loan from Shanghai SIPG has impressed greatly in his opening two games for the Knights, scoring two goals.

The Black Stars captain scored on his debut before converting a penalty he won in Al Ahli’s 4-1 thumping of Emirates Club over the weekend.

He was named on the bench as Al Ahli claimed the 2016 UAE Super Cup at the expense of Al Jazira.

But according to Gyan who has been battling injuries, his is yet to hit top form.

“I’m not in my best shape, but at least I got a goal. It’s very important for me. My condition is getting better compared to the other two games I played. So it’s a step for me,” Gyan said.

“It’s good for a striker to be scoring. I’m more experienced, I know the league very well, so being on the scoresheet gives me confidence and hope to continue,”

“I always enjoy it. As I said before, I’m happy to play here and I’m happy to play under a coach I feel comfortable with, so it’s a good thing. I’m playing with happiness now.”
