Asante Kotoko guardsman, Abeiku Ainooson has revealed that he is not perturbed for not getting nominated as the best defender of the season adding he don’t even deserved to be nominated.

Last two seasons, Ainooson won double prize that is the FA Cup and the league best defender award but in the 2014/15 season, the 24 year old hard tackler was snubbed as Baba Mensah from Inter Allies, Ashgold’s Lawrence Lartey and Ahmed Adams got nominated.

But it was Inter Allies defender, Baba Mensah who was voted as the best defender of the 2014/15 league season in a ceremony which took place at the La Palm Beach Hotel in Accra.

“I was not perturbed for not getting any nomination for an award this season. I wouldn’t have been happy if I had been nominated because the truth must be told.”

“This season I was on and off all due to injuries and in four matches to the end of the league I started rediscovering my form which helped me gain a call up into the national team. So I didn’t even deserve to be nominated.

It was the best players who got nominated,” Ainooson said in an interview.

He added: “Baba Mensah is a very good player because he went to a club outside and things was very bad for him which made him return to Ghana.”

“His management’s decision to make him come back was a good idea and last season he scored more goals than any other defender in the league so I’m not surprised he won the award because the three deserve the award.”
